MCR SUPERVISOR
LONDON

We are looking for a talented MCR Supervisor to lead a CTA (Central Technology Area) team of three, provide training, companywide technical support and ensure secure management of material across multiple sites for offline and online editorial.

The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail and be responsible for the smooth running and technical upkeep of our software and hardware, systems and material across 14+ suites (offline and online). It will be their responsibility to ensure the smooth running of projects from a technical point of view, that all departments have access to the material they need at the right time and be a go to for online support and finishing management.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Technical co-ordination and management of CTA resources.
Troubleshoot technical difficulties both software and hardware, addressing and flagging where support is required to Operations Director.
Responsible for maintaining AVID, Premiere, Nexus and storage system, share server and back-up and sync servers plus internal networked storage drives.
Ensure weekly maintenance checks and troubleshooting is undertaken.
Maintain high-level of communication between CTA team and all internal departments/ production sites.
Liaise with producers, GFX and editorial to ensure the implementation of adequate workflows within a fast-paced post-production environment.
Manage workloads and priorities within CTA.
Oversee media ingestion for 14 AVID offline and additional Premiere Suites and day-to-day smooth running of projects according to scheduling requirements.
Ensure best practice and full understanding of asset management, file formats, workflow orchestration, transcoding, QC, delivery, video and audio process within CTA.
QC and delivery of files to broadcasters, delivery partners, client approval files, TV clearance files and online, audio prep.
Ensure all freelancers, new starters and current editorial staff work according to the agreed technical setup for projects.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2-years experience in a dub-room / machine room environment.
In depth knowledge of Avid Media Composer and a familiarity with the basic video effects and audio plug-ins, along with Avid / NEXIS Client Manager workflow.
Able to operate Avid Symphony and manage finishing process.
In depth knowledge of frame rates (24fps, 25fps, 23.98p, 29.97i, 59.94p), time-code (drop frame, non-drop frame), aspect ratios (1.33, 1.78, 1.85, 2.39), resolutions (720x486, 1280x720, 1920x1080), Video scanning (interlaced vs progressive), and colour spaces (rec709 16-235, RGB 0-255).
Experience of managing multiple frame rate projects.
Understanding of audio bit depth (16bit, 24bit), sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz), codecs (AAC, Linear PCM), common track layouts (stereo, 5.1, split), and audio formats (WAV, AIF, mp3, m4a).
Understand digital video codecs including DNxHD, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444, H264, Photo JPEG and bit rates (ex: 6Mbit/s vs 100Mbit/s).
Experience with video conversion tools (QuickTime Pro, MPEG Streamclip, Content Agent) and basic understanding of the .mov and .mp4 wrappers.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as FTP Clients (Wiredrive, Cyberduck, Transmit).
Ability to work under high pressure situations with quick turn arounds and take instructions both verbally and in writing.
Must have an understanding of basic editing concepts, great communication and timekeeping skills, and be an overall self-starter.
Use of Aspera and Signiant desirable.


MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGNER - MID LEVEL
LONDON or AMSTERDAM

We are looking for a talented Motion Graphics Designer to join our London or Amsterdam office at a midlevel. The ideal candidate will need to be an excellent all-rounder with good understanding of design and typography and at least basic experience in rotoscoping, compositing and 3D applications and workflow. The showreel should showcase work that highlights the above skills in practice using After Effects and Cinema 4D (preferable but not essential).

This is a highly collaborative role in joining a small team of like-minded individuals. Working on several projects simultaneously, the successful candidate will require self-motivation, excellent time management and the discipline to cope with fast turnarounds and hard deadlines. In order to excel at this role, the individual will be a fast-learner, enthusiastic and bring an original and creative approach.
